[KH - KC] Searching

Tsu's late birthday present. I have no clue if Eithne really acts like it, but um, I tried? I hope you had an awesome birthday too. ♥

Title: Searching
Fandom: Kingdom Hearts - Kingdom Chronicles
Relationship: Noelle + Eithne
Summary: Noelle and Eithne comb the entire town in search of the book that brought Noelle to Ivalice. Will they find it?
Disclaimer: KH isn't mine. Noelle's my OC, but Eithne belongs to [livejournal.com profile] pumpkin_bomb.

She stood on her tip-toes, staring at the rows of books in front of her. "Do you think they'd really have that old dusty book, Eithne?"

Her viera companion shrugged, pulling out a book from a dusty pile nearby. "We've already tried other bookstores. This is the only one we haven't visited yet." She blew the dust from the cover and coughed as the clouds floated everywhere.

It was true that they had literally spent all day combing the local bookstores for the book that had brought Noelle here to Ivalice. Eithne had nothing better to do, and Noelle desperately wanted to go home... so off to checking the bookstores they went. Not many people took a second look at them. If anything, the adults looked pleased to see two young girls constantly checking out the bookstores.

Maybe school had finally gotten through their skulls! And they were looking for books to read. (Oh, if only they knew. Then they wouldn't be doing happy dances in the middle of the street.)

Noelle traced her fingers across the last dusty title. "I... don't think it's here either. I'm sorry to have bothered you, Eithne."

The half-viera shook her head and smiled. "It was... fun, in an odd way. Is there anything else you wanted to do?"

Taking a longing glance at the last book ("A Abridged History of Ivalice"), she shook her head. "I just wanna go back to St. Ivalice. If there's anything you want to do, I'm okay with it."

Eithne nodded. "Very well." She headed straight past her companion and pulled the history book out of the shelf. She then headed towards the cash register, leaving a dumbstruck Noelle to pick up the pace. The redhead eventually made it to the counter well after Eithne finished paying for the book.

Taking the book into her hands, Noelle went over the embossed cover with her fingers. "Thank you," She gratefully told the other girl. "I'm sure it'll help me understand this world better. Um, how can I ever pay you back?"

Eithne studied her redhead companion well. Crossing her arms, she said, "How well can you fight?"

"I've never tried."

Nodding, Eithne headed towards the door. "Then fight with me. I'll consider that your payment."

Noelle nodded enthusiastically, walking out beside her new friend. "Okay! I'll try my very best."

"I should hope so," Eithne smiled. They laced their pinkies together and shared a smile before the setting sun disappeared once and for all.
