[KC] Over Dinner
Part of a fic trade with Tsu. Yes, I've finally had free time to tackle things that I couldn't have before, and I'm really glad about it. So please don't be surprised to see a sudden influx of things - I assure you that it wouldn't normally be the case~
Title: Over Dinner
Fandom: KH - Kingdom Chronicles
Summary: "What if you had a brother, Mariel?"
Disclaimer: Morie and Mariel are Tsu's, and KH and stuff you recognize otherwise belong to Square-Enix and Disney. I'm just having fun with them.
People always took double takes whenever Morie introduced Mariel as her best friend. Morie was that quiet girl next door - the sort of girl who you always expected to end up with that perfect guy. She was studious (or she appeared to be while actually failing); she stuck mostly to herself.
Then... there was Mariel. When most people saw her, most of them thought, "How on earth did Sora and Kairi raise such an.. um.. interesting kid?" Interesting was a nice way of putting it. She wanted to be a ninja. Um, most people agreed that ninjas didn't exist, kid.
How could have two nice people ended up with such a weird kid? At least, that was the opinion of half the town. No wonder they were surprised whenever they saw the two laughing and joking about mudane topics.
They didn't seem to care, though. Especially when they were sitting together at the local cafe over milk (Morie) and a root beer (Mariel).
"What do you think life'd be like if you had a brother?"
Mariel shrugged. "Who knows? I just hope he wouldn't be a wimp."
Morie laughed nervously. "Do you really think that you'd get a brother like that?"
"Like I said, who knows? He could even be just like me for all you know."
What if conversations never seemed to go over well with her. Morie sighed - she supposed it would've been better to wait until after the root beer. (Maybe then she would've been more receptive to that.. train of thought. Or maybe not.)
Morie twirled her straw in her strawberry smoothie. "Mm.. I think my brother would've been a nice person. And he would've looked like Dad. Your turn."
"Do I have to play this game?" .. Woah, Morie actually glared! Mariel didn't think she had the guts outside of battle. "... Fine, fine. My brother... well, he'd have to be older than me. I don't think I could stand a younger brother. And he'd have to be somewhat good-looking to attract the ladies."
Morie took a moment to write this down. "Okay... older, good-looking. What else?"
"He'd have to be the keyblade bearer to get attention off me. Oh! And a total damsel in distress."
Morie stared. "... Damsel? But he's a guy."
Mariel pouted. "Does it matter? I wanna save him and the day at the same time."
Scratch her earlier comment. Not only did Mariel make what if conversations hard - she also had to put her own (uh, unique) spin on them. Most people were probably wondering why Morie hadn't hated Mariel's guts yet.
Morie.. she didn't even know the answer yet. But you know - she doubted that she really had to know. Because best friends were always there for each other and supported them even when it was really hard to believe them.
Like now: how the heck could a guy be a damsel in distress?
Morie shrugged, smiled, and accepted it. "Um, sure. You think that he'd be a good brother to you?"
For once, Mariel gave a huge grin. ".. Yeah. I think he'd be a great brother."
The clock rang the next hour; the waiter finally came with their dinners. As Morie dug into her salad, she couldn't help noticing that her friend's face... had changed considerably over the course of the last hour.
Her face was... brighter. And she was definitely smiling more.
"You know what, Mariel?"
Mariel blinked. "What?"
Morie grinned. "We should have conversations like this more often."
"Yeah," Mariel agreed. "And you should pay for our dinners more often!"
Both of them mock-glared at each other. Then, they laughed over a good meal and conversation. Life, it seemed to Morie, couldn't have gotten any better.

No problem~ I should have the other piece up soon.

B-but I see what you did there 8D. The hints at Sorren and Kiro o: Perhaps someday, somewhere, somehow, we could have some weird reunion between the RikuxNamine and SoraxKairi kids 8D
A-and okay ♥ I can't wait to see it
I...actually feel like writing something sometime with AU Liesl and Sivetxt and the others 8D [well, that, and exploring Muxen/Nemu/Taida]

It's totally fine. ^^ Develop what you want, and write what you think is best. I mean, I do that kind of thing all the time - I have so many characters that it's completely impossible to all give them equal character development.
If you wanna write it with them, I don't see why not. ♥ They are your characters too, no?

Aha o: Yes. I think the main thing is that when work hasn't eaten my alive, I tend to feel my writing isn't all that great.
Though Liesl vs. Sivetxt vs. Anixthe is a must...eventually, when I can sit down and type it up 8D
