cherryfox's birthday present. .__.;; I'm sorry for depressing you, ne..
Disclaimer: The mages are the only charries I own (Daisuke, Shuugo, Kyr, Shikari, Hikari, Minoru, Roy, Sora). That's it. e-e;
It's been six years since that day.
You remember, don't you? The twins were only seven years old then. Jr was only six, while Ami was five. Yes.. it was that day in the wintertime. Daisuke and Hikari had agreed to babysit the children so that we could talk just like we used to. But that day wasn't going to turn out the way that we wanted to.
As I watched you try to catch snowflakes with your tongue, I couldn't help but give a laugh. It was just like old times... but the only difference was that we didn't have to hold back anymore since Kyr wasn't here too often anymore.
Since he had married Plum, they went back to their dimension. I had never seen Kyr look happier in his life... I knew that he hated this dimension, but I had never seen him smile like that. Shuugo had left a while back as well, claiming that he missed his own family... I missed seeing that smile that would always cheer me up when you weren't around.
...But I was jolted from my thoughts to hear your shriek. Summoning my staff, I glanced over at you to see you try and protect yourself with your weapon. Why you could use your weapon in human form, I would never know.
"Ichi!" You just gave me your smile as I tried to whack the monster with my staff. However, that was to no effect.
"You're obviously not going to defeat him that way."
I let a sigh upon hearing that all too-familiar voice. A blond-haired man appeared, holding his staff like it was nothing in his left hand.
"Let's see you do better, Kyten." I replied, giving him a smirk as I spoke. But I had forgotten who was more skilled in magic by this point in time, hadn't I?
"Halo Rings!" Rings of light appeared from out of nowhere, and shot the monster with almost-perfect accuracy. I let out a low whistle as I placed my other hand in my jeans pocket. I had forgotten how good he was..
But the monster wasn't happy. Its claws lunged at Kyr, and created a gash on his left shoulder. The man gave a grimace, but didn't say anything. He clutched his shoulder with his free hand, still holding his staff in his other hand.
"Kyten?" I didn't blame you for being surprised. A purple aura had surrounded the other adult, and he didn't seem to be too happy about it either.
"...poison..." I could hear every word that he muttered to himself, but I didn't say anything. I didn't know how to cure poison, and besides - he wouldn't accept my help. Curse his stupid pride..
"All ye who sin! Rest in peace! Holy Judge---" But before Kyr could finish his chant, the monster lunged at him one more time, and scratched his skin. More blood came spilling out, and...
"Tell Arisa-chan I love her..." He said nothing more. As I glanced over at him, I bit my lip. It couldn't be true... it couldn't be true...
My son was dead.
I brought myself to my knees in front of him, but I was too focused on him to realize that you were in trouble.
"Mew Mew Ichigo, Metamorpho-sis!"
It was only when I saw you once again in mew form to realize... that you were in danger. I rose from my position, gripping my staff tightly.
"Aqua Torrent!" Water shot out from my free hand as I sent it out towards the foe. I was able to knock it back from its position and finally kill it off... but I was too late.
You had fallen, and I could hear your whispered "I love you...". But the next thing I knew was.. that you were dead too...
--------------------
"Dad? Dad? DADDDDDD!"
I was jolted from my thoughts by none other than Kisa. I managed to give the girl a weak smile, though I had no clue why she was calling me on a day like this.
"What is it, Kisa?" I asked, glancing over at the pink-haired girl to see if there was anything wrong with her. But the only thing that was abnormal was the fact that her pink hair was styled similarly to yours..
"Look!"
I glanced over to where her finger was pointing. My face became pale then. Was I really seeing... Kyr again?
But it seemed that the young mage was with some friends that I recognized as some members of the Teenage Wolves. But why were they here.. when I knew well that Kyr was dead?
"...It seems that they're the last people in the cafe today..." I remarked, giving a smile as I spoke.
"Dad, are you going to do anything bad?" I couldn't help but smile upon seeing Kisa's facial expression. I gave her a pat on the head, shaking my head as she spoke.
"Unless you count talking to him as something bad..." I replied, shaking my head as I spoke.
"...Excuse me, sir? The waitresses don't seem to be here.."
I blinked as I came face to face with Kyr. However, he didn't seem to recognize me...
"I'll take the payment.." I replied slowly, not getting what he meant by that. "May I ask your name, though?"
"Takaishi Kyr. I'm the son of Takaishi Takeru and Takaishi Hikari." He calmly replied, though it seemed that he was expecting me to realize who one of his parents were.
Obviously, I didn't. I bit my lip, feeling a little low. For once.. he wasn't my son. I vaguely remembered him telling me that he did exist in this timeline, but I suppose that I wasn't listening enough to hear every word.
"Ooh, isn't your father the manga-ka of Digimon Adventure?"
Kyr gave a weak smile. "Yep, that's my tousan. He just wrote it, though. Somebody else did the artwork.." He admitted, rubbing the back of his neck in slight embarrassment.
"So, sir... how much do I owe you?"
"Nothing, Kyten. It's on the house." I replied absentmindedly, giving a smile as I spoke.
"....Do you know my parents?" He asked, blinking a little. "Not many call me Kyten.."
"Not really, but I knew somebody who acted just like you." I managed to reply, sweatdropping as I spoke.
"Ah, alright." Kyr placed his wallet back inside his pocket. "Thanks, sir." He gave a bow before walking over towards his friends. I could hear only bits and pieces of their conversation, but that really didn't matter now.
At least he was alive in this dimension... that was something to be grateful about, right?
