[Kingdom Hearts - Kingdom Chronicles] Raining Stars

And hopefully this shall end my epic fic-spam for today. D: I'm sorry, everyone, especially since I'm supposed to be on hiatus, but I really wanted to get these fics out of the way before I forgot them completely. Again, this one's for [livejournal.com profile] theskiesabove, so I hope she enjoys it.

Title: Raining Stars
Fandom: Kingdom Chronicles (next-gen rp based off Kingdom Hearts)
Summary: Riku convinces Tochi that yes, the sky does make stars rain just like water.
Disclaimer: Kingdom Hearts, Riku, and its concept belong to Square-Enix and Disney. Tochi belongs to [livejournal.com profile] theskiesabove, but this story and most of Riku's headcanon belong to me.

It wasn't often that Tochi and Riku were sitting outside on their verdana after dinner, but they were here together. Riku had sensed something was wrong, so he let Namine and Morie discuss art by themselves, and thus? He and his little girl were watching the starlit sky.

Tochi didn't really speak, but Riku didn't mind. How long had it been since it was just the two of them? The poor girl couldn't draw as well as Namine or Morie, but she desperately tried these past few weeks to be anywhere near their skill (and much to Riku's disappointment, that practice hadn't done her very much good.)

He knew that was why she was upset today. Refusing to comment on it, Riku instead adjusted his glasses as he held up a hand to the sky, "I wonder if it'll rain stars tonight."

His daughter didn't respond. So Riku again looked up to the sky and laughed, "I mean, it's too bright for this time of night, isn't it?"

"It doesn't rain stars, Daddy. Everyone knows that."

Ouch. He hadn't expected her to become Daddy's Little Critic in less than 48 hours. Ignoring that comment, Riku shook his head, "Oh? But it does rain stars. Uncle Sora, Aunt Kairi, and I used to watch them all the time when we were your age."

Tochi's eyes lit up as she scooted her chair closer to her father's, "Really? But don't they call that a meteor shower?"

"That's for normal stars," Riku scoffed. "But special stars rain down like water."

He was sure he was squarely in the making-stuff-up category, but hey. If it had worked for Sora this long, it could surely work on him tonight!

"Really?"

Now his little girl was smiling; no doubt because she loved her yellow stars so much. Smiling gently at her, Riku nodded, "Of course. These stars'll probably become yours, Tochi. Don't you love your yellow stars?"

Tochi touched the star on her headband, "Uh-huh."

"That's my little girl," Riku laughed, leaning in for a gentle hug.

"So when'll the stars be raining?"

Oh. Crap. Good thing she couldn't see his pale face because he had been giving her a full-on bear hug. Pressing his lips, Riku nervously responded, "I don't know... probably sometime before you go to bed, alright?"

"Why don't you know, Daddy?"

Erk, here came the more awkward questions. How did Sora manage to avoid them all?

"Because it's been a while since I've seen the stars rain," Riku honestly replied. "When you haven't seen a star rain, you tend to forget its patterns."

"Oh," Tochi hugged her father, "It's okay, Daddy. I'm sure the stars look pretty anyway."

Riku sighed of relief as he let go, "Thanks, Tochi."

"You're welcome---- Oooooh!"

Riku followed her gaze to the raining stars. Huh. Watching Tochi eagerly run to catch all the yellow stars, Riku glanced over his shoulder at his smiling wife, "Are you making the stars rain, Miss Namine?"

Namine shrugged knowingly, "Maybe, Mr. I-See-The-Stars-Rain."

Morie ran past them - "Oooh! The stars are raining!" - as she too eagerly leapt in the air to catch falling yellow and blue stars.

Laughing, Riku embraced his wife. She lifted his glasses off his face and kissed him gently as they wrapped in an even tighter embrace. Letting go only reluctantly, Riku laughed, "So this is what it's like when the stars rain."

Namine rested on his shoulder, "Uh-huh."

"You suppose we should do this again?"

Kissing him again, Namine laughed, "Why yes, yes we should," as Tochi tugged on her father's shirt.

Riku knelt down, "You like the stars, Tochi?"

"Yes, Daddy," Tochi beamed, kissing her father's forehead. "I'm sorry I didn't believe you."

Namine shot him a knowing glance, but Riku ignored it as he smiled, "Don't worry about it. I just hope you'll believe me from now on."

The stars continued to fall, but Riku's family seemed to finally be able to ignore them for the first time as they continued to inspect their growing collection of stars. For a made-up story, these stars sure seemed to sparkle like the real thing. And for the first time in a week, Riku noted happily, his daughter was smiling again.

so cute o/~ I like how Namine meddles in things, haha, and how close to Riku Tochi is (I've pictured her being closer to him than Namine, as Morie is close to Nami)

the Mari story is nice as well owo her knee's healed, haha, but of course, that won't make Mari any less of a failure of a ninja (don't ask her to demonstrate new moves learned unless you want to pay for property damage? ahaha)

thank you~ o/

Thank you! ♥ Cuteness is what I aim for. 8D (And I figure Namine and Riku have this awesome kind of relationship where one just bounces ideas off the other and they alternate being the dominant one, but it's not as obvious in all of these fics.)

I'm glad that you thought so too about Tochi and Riku, since I figured the same. XD

No problem with Mariel - I had no idea if Sora went through with the surgery, but Ari wouldn't have known (and would've probably still healed the knee anyway).

And again, no problem. o/ If I get around to the Xianthe fic, I shall let you know.

hahaha sounds like a awesome relationship to me o/

and probably not. Mariel is more elusive than Sora can keep track of.

and okayyyy

I finished the Lucia ref, by the way! link
