[Kingdom Hearts - Kingdom Chronicles] Sister Bonding Time!

One of the many fics I promised [livejournal.com profile] theskiesabove in exchange for paid time, this is a Mariel+Shikari fic. ♥ I know, there's going to be some Tochi and Xi fic, but I knew you wanted something on Mariel too. So, here you go!

Title: Sister Bonding Time
Fandom: Kingdom Chronicles (next-gen rp based off Kingdom Hearts)
Summary: Mariel and Shikari agree to go shopping again. And if Shikari has her way, it won't be the last time they bond.
Disclaimer: KH and its concept belongs to Square-Enix and Disney while Mariel belongs to [livejournal.com profile] theskiesabove. Shikari, however, is all mine.

Neither Mariel nor Shikari knew why they had both agreed to go shopping together. Ari, Mariel supposed, missed female company since she was always spending her time with the guys (unlike back home, when she had been spending time with Morie, Zefie, Rakka, and all the other girls). Mariel, Ari supposed, had finally decided that she was going to be a good example for her little sister.

It was funny, then, that neither sister wanted to admit that she actually wanted to spend time with her relative.

Carefully studying a teardrop necklace, Ari smiled, "Oooh, this looks beautiful."

"Really?" Mariel looked up from the scarf she'd been eyeing. "That would suit you."

"You're only saying that because I already own like five," Ari laughed, putting the necklace back on the rack. "I think I should probably attempt to buy something else."

"Might be a good idea," Mariel echoed, not really sure of what else to say at the moment. She really hadn't seen Ari in forever - and now what was she supposed to say? God, Kierren was so much better at cheering her up and doing things that Ari actually liked.

All Mariel knew was that she'd been setting things on fire. Did she still like gingerbread cookies? Or tiramisu? (Heck, all sweets in general were Ari's favorite foods.)

"Once we're done," She casually suggested, paying for the scarf and some other random necklace Ari had settled on, "Why don't we go to the food court and buy some sweets? I hear Tallie really likes the tiramisu there."

Ari's eyes lit up, "Seriously?"

... It had been a while since Mariel had really seen her kid sister that happy, even if it was just over the mention of food. And just for a moment, Mariel almost wished she'd chosen to be the good kid and journey with her siblings after school. (Unlike Kierren and Ari, Mariel had no intentions of higher education.)

Coughing, Ari then started walking, "Then let's go! I don't think I really need anything else. Steph said we could go ahead and get some winter clothes next time we're in Christmas Town."

Steph this, Steph that. Nearly everything involved Stephanie Brown these days - which made sense, considering she was the only girl Ari had been traveling with - but Mariel had to wonder: did Ari ever get irritated when Mariel constantly mentioned Morie and Abiri? Because Mariel was absolutely sure that this replacement of an older sister was driving her batty.

Following her sister somewhat complacently, Mariel carefully walked so that her limp wouldn't be as noticeable. And to the general populice of Radiant Garden, it wasn't. To her kid sister, however, the limp was incredibly obvious.

They finally took a seat in a booth near the sweet shop. Instead of running off immediately, however, Mariel noticed that Ari insisted on Mariel's right leg being propped up. Putting both of her hands on her hips, Ari motioned, "Come on. Let me see your knee."

"Why?" Mariel suspiciously stared at her sister. "You're not Dad."

Ari again glared, "Do you want me to set you on fire?"

This was a rare time where Ari's reputation preceded her, and Mariel hastily put her leg up (not because she herself wanted to be on fire, persay, but these clothes were new! And expensive!). "Fine," Mariel groaned as Ari knelt beside the knee. "Do whatever you want---"

Ari gently rubbed her hands in a circular motion, "Heal."

For a brief moment, there was scorching pain... and then? Nothing. Mariel stared in amazement as she easily put her leg down, "How-- What--- Why--- You got healing magic, didn't you?"

"Had it for a while," Ari smirked. "It pays to have healing magic in your party, don't you think?"

And as she walked off, leaving a dumbfounded Mariel behind, Ari vowed that she would indeed go shopping with her older sister more often.
