It Takes Two: Chapter Twenty Two
WEWY, how you captured me so. ♥ (And besides, this was a great excuse to write Neku out some more.) Um, not much to say, other than Neku might be a bit OOC here. He's not normally so happy and bouncy, I know, but maybe Shiki brings it out in him?

The 104 Building was a pretty nice place if you were into crowds. Neku, after staring into the abyss of frenzied customers and shopkeepers, decided he wasn't into the shopping scene. If it weren't for the girl admiring the clothes on the other side, he doubted he would still be in here.
He tugged on his hair, watching her from the corner of his eye. It felt odd to not have his headphones over them. Despite him throwing them to the wind, Beat had found them again. ("Man, what were you thinking? Losing your phones like that?") Neku, in the end, just chose not to wear them.
It felt liberating.
Not that he would admit it even to her. If asked, he always replied with, "Trying something new." He doubted any of them believed him; they would exchange glances and giggle into their mouths.
"Neku! Come over here and see this!"
He sighed, squeezing his way through the throngs of people (hey, was that person... foaming at the mouth? EW). "Coming," He called, stopping beside a girl with glasses.
She looked up at him and smiled. "It's a shame we can't control the trends in the RG anymore," She commented, holding up a blue tank top. "But then again, it makes following them more fun. Don't you think, Neku?"
He shrugged. "I still don't think much of trends."
To his surprise, she giggled. Looking away, he crossed his arms and replied, "... Isn't the big thing Jupiter of the Monkey?"
"You remembered to look up the trends?"
He didn't reply for a long while. The throngs nearly pushed them aside, clamoring about some Prince. Supposedly he was in the building again. The girl beside him shrugged and moved onto the next rack of clothes.
"The next one is D+B," She nodded. "I'm... impressed you remembered."
"It was nothing," He responded nonchalantly, waiting for her beside the rack. "... Shiki, you ready to head out for lunch?"
She beamed, swinging a jacket and sandals over her arms. "That'd be great. What are you in the mood for?"
He cracked a grin. "Hmmm... how about that Ramen Don place?"
Laughing, she dragged him over to the register. "I thought you were sick and tired of that place! We must've gone there lots of times while in the UG."
"Hey," He commented as he tried to mimic Joshua's infamous shrug. "It's popular."
Both of them exchanged glances and laughed as they bought their clothes and headed out to Dogenzaka.
"Neku~?"
"What is it?"
"Since when were you so into trends?"
"Mmm... since... right now."
She poked him lightly. "Jeez, Neku. You're so troublesome."
His only response was a grin as they walked into the ramen shop.
