[Brave Little Lion] Like Parents, Like Children
I haven't been able to write lately, so being able to do this was quite refreshing. ♥ Um, I have to admit, I probably won't be able to do much fanwork lately - and most of my writing for a while will probably be original fics. Please give them a chance.
Title: Like Parents, Like Children
Fandom: Brave Little Lion [original]
Summary: Okay, why on earth are they chasing each other around the house?
Claimer: All mine. Please don't take. ._.
"CHRISTIAN KYROS BEAUMONT! COME BACK HERE!"
Yep, this was a normal Saturday. James calmly sipped tea as his two teenage sons zipped past him, each yelling random obsenities to each other (in languages other than English, he amusedly noted). His wife stared back at the mess her children left behind and sighed.
"Must be nice not to worry about the mess," She mused, setting her tea cup on the coaster.
James nodded in agreement. "Boys will be boys," He replied cheerfully. "So you should let them be, Annie. They'll settle it their own way."
"Yes," She agreed. Wincing as a 'BAM!' echoed through the room, she eyed him with a look. "But how soon will they settle it?"
"... I wish I knew the answer to that one."
Another crash, and both boys fell to the floor. James almost expected them both to fight to the death - after all, wasn't that what all brothers do when they've just been chasing each other? - right then and there. Instead, the younger brother rose from his spot and extended a hand to his older brother.
"Come on, Chris," The younger brother said with a grin. "You don't wanna miss the show, do you?"
Chris laughed, taking his little brother's hand as he rose from the ground. "Nope. Sorry 'bout that, Shawn."
James and Annie exchanged glances.
"So... Shawnie? Chris? What was that all about?"
Shawn grinned. "Oh, you know. We had a race. And the winner got to choose what show we're watching tonight. Unfortunately, Chrissy won."
"You make me sound like a girl," Chris sighed. "But yes, I won. And therefore, we're watching the Food Network tonight."
"Nevermind that you can't cook to save your own life."
Annie giggled. "Was that all?"
"Uh-huh," Both boys replied in unison, staring back at their seemingly oblivious parents.
James shrugged. "You two do know we could Tivo the other show, right...?"
"Def," Shawn interjected. "It's just more fun to watch the premiere as it's actually happening. And laugh at the silly commericals. Now come on! The show's starting in ten minutes!"
The two boys ran off in the direction of the den. James finished off his tea, staring back at the trail his sons had left behind.
"And just when you think you understood them... they turn your world upside down."
Annie leaned in and kissed him on the cheek. "Since when has parenthood ever been easy? You should just appreciate the moment, James."
He nodded, rising from his chair. "I suppose. So, come on. Let's join them in their show."
She laughed, taking his arm. "Sure. What do you think they're watching?"
"Hopefully? Not the next season of ER. I don't want to bring the office home again."
Pinching his arm, Annie beamed. "Oh, then I promise it'll definitely be ER!"
"Annieeeeee! Come back here!"
Shawn and Kyr stared from behind the couch at their parents. Exchanging glances, they shrugged and returned their attention to the TV.
"We have such weird parents, Chrissy."
Chris nodded, switching the channel. "Don't I know it. I'm just glad we're not like them at all."

Crit wise? I'd like to see you develop description of actions and locations sometime in the future when you're writing more, so that these things are easier for the reader to visualize. Paint a picture with words, as they say?

Ah, okay. I'll try and remember that for the future.

I didn't mean Annie, since she wasn't a whole lot like Liz or anything.

That's what I figured. I honestly have no clue who Annie was until now... she just kinda popped in there. e-e;
