Warmth. Noun. "The quality or state of being warm in feeling."
She never realized how lucky she was.
She shivered, wrapping the fleece blanket closer around her body. Pressing the warm hot chocolate to her lips, she glanced out at the blizzard from the nearby window.
It must be even colder outside than it was here, in a heated room inside the Keterburg Resort.
Yet, her eyes never wavered from the window. Watching the snowflakes fall with increasing intensity, she continued to sip her own hot chocolate.
The door creaked open; in came the whizzing snowflakes. She shivered, pulling the blanket even closer with her free hand.
As he quickly shut the door, the visitor didn't even utter a word of apology for letting the snow in. Taking the free blanket from her grasp, he sat down beside her. It felt... nice, having him beside her. No words needed to be said when it came to him.
He gently set the hot chocolate down on his lap. "Natalia...How cold are you?"
Her face immediately became red. "I-I'm fine," She insisted, brushing back her blonde hair from her face. "...Besides," She murmured. "Even if it is cold, having you here is nicer than the warmest fireplace."
His eyes widened. She could have sworn that he saw the faintest flicker of a smile appear on his sullen face. She blinked, letting her own lips form that familiar happy expression.
Was it all right now?
She hesitantly leaned on his shoulder, letting her hair fall onto her face as she closed her eyes. "I missed you, Asch," She whispered.
His face brightened visibly. He brushed the hair from her eyes, returning the words with a simple, "I missed you too."
