It Takes Two: Chapter Twelve
Title: Dance With Me
Fandom: Tales of Legendia
Pairing: Senel x Chloe
Disclaimer: Namco (and apparently MelFes) owns Tales of Legendia. Not me~
Notes: This.. doesn't really have any spoilers. The only ones are character spoilers - meaning, if you don't have Jay or Grune in your party, this might not be the thing to read right now.
Why was the guy of her dreams so oblivious to her feelings?
Chloe herself wasn't even sure. Maybe it was because Senel had other priorities - he did want to seek his sister Shirley out and save her, after all.
Or maybe it was because he just wasn't interested in finding a girl and settling down just yet.
Or, as Norma said, "Maybe it's just because he's so darn stupid."
Whatever the case was, he hadn't noticed.
Norma had taken pity on the girl; she declared that today was to be a party, and that everyone had to dress up because they were celebrating the day that fruits were discovered.
It was obvious that no one (not even Moses!) believed her - except for maybe Grune, but Grune believed in everything - yet, the odd thing was that everyone went by it and dressed up anyways.
As she sat down in front of the water at the plaza (as that was where the party would be held), Chloe sighed at her reflection. Norma had helped her, yes, and tried to make her look as 'cute' as she possibly could in her current state.
But would pale blue ribbons in her hair, along with a halter dress, really work? She fingered her hair, not quite sure what to say.
"Um... is anyone there?"
Chloe looked up at the speaker. She should have known that Senel would have shown up early - he was that kind of person, after all.
Rising from her position, the knight went over to greet her comrade. She smiled at him nervously, standing as Norma had instructed her.
"Good evening, Coolidge," She greeted.
He blinked. "I don't think we've met," He finally said, crossing his arms.
Chloe giggled. "You don't recognize me?"
His eyes widened. As cute as Senel may have looked tonight for wearing a white blazer on top of a black t-shirt, a crimson red tie, and white pants, he was still as dense as ever.
"Chloe...?" He finally said in slight awe.
She nodded. "It's me," She answered, holding out her arms and twirling slightly to give him the full effect. "...I don't look silly, do I?" She quickly added, clasping her hands together.
He laughed, walking up to brush back her bangs. "No. If anything... you look great."
Her face was instantly flustered by that comment; her hands flew back to her side. She was about to move away, as if there was nothing else to say, when Senel's voice stopped her.
"Wait, Chloe.."
She glanced back at him. "What is it?"
He simply shook his head. "...It's nothing."
She wasn't that far from him now. Maybe.. just maybe.. she could gather up her courage and do something about it...
Walking swiftly back up to him, she ignored the confused expression on his face, and pressed her lips against his own. As she wrapped her arms around his waist, Chloe could feel her face becoming redder with each second...
"OMG! C, you actually did it!"
Chloe broke from her grip, looking over at the crowd that had gathered at the entrance to the plaza. There was Norma, cheering her heart out...
Was that Moses with that satisfied smirk? "You guys.. I thought you'd take forever," He cried, grinning.
Jay and Will exchanged glances as they waked over to the group, yet Chloe could sense the smiles and happiness on their faces.
"I was wondering when you two would hook up," Jay finally remarked. "I guess now is probably the right time.."
Grune appeared beside Will, smiling as calmly and cheerfully as ever. "You two look so happy together~" She commented, oblivious to the sweatdrops and nervous glances all around her.
Senel.. if anything, the boy was definitely confused.
"Wait a sec. You mean... Chloe's liked me for all this time?" He croaked.
Everyone laughed.
"Senny, you didn't notice?" Norma called.
Jay shook his head. "Talk about oblivious..."
It was definitely time for Senel's face to go all red; he blushed, looking away from Chloe.
"So, so~ JJ, you wanna dance and get the night squared away?" Norma asked, summoning the DJ over to his post near the fountain.
Jay blinked, watching as Norma extended her hand. "Ummm... sure?" He weakly said, following her to the dance floor.
Chloe slowly looked over at Senel, slowly moving back. "I'm... sorry about all of that," She said, keeping her gaze on the fountain.
A slow smile found its way on Senel's face. "It's okay," He slowly said. "Besides, I had a question."
She blinked. "And what would that be?"
"Would you like to dance, Chloe?"
She looked over at him as he extended her hand. "Are you... serious?" She asked, looking down at the hand.
He nodded. "Definitely. I know we can't save Shirley until tomorrow, but.. how about we dance, just the two of us, tonight?"
"All right," She said, taking his hand. "Tomorrow, we save Shirley. But tonight.. I wouldn't.. mind dancing... with you.."
It was obvious neither knew how to deal with each other. But that was okay. They'd learn, right?

The "almost elipsis" makes several appearances in the fic. If you're inserting pauses that way in writing, it's "..." not ".." Also, I found it sort of odd that Norma says "OMG". I don't think she'd be speaking in netspeak, considering the world ToL takes place in.
Ack! I had meant to review the other fic, but I'm so lazy during the summer... So sorry. My lack of reviewage was not based on hate. Don't give up writing ToL. Your fics are cute.
