It Takes Two: Chapter Ten

Yes, I know, I know. More spammage. X_______X;; Forgive me.

Title: Him and Me
Fandom: Bakuten Shoot! Beyblade (Beyblade in the US)
Pairing: Tyson x Hilary
Disclaimer: Takao Aoki owns this anime, folks. Not me.
Notes: I am following the DUB for this ficlet. I would do the Japanese, but I'm not as familiar with it, sorry...

Why did I always put up with him?

You know, not even I know the answer to that. I'm often annoyed by his hideous eating habit - man, does he ever stop pigging out?

He almost never answers my text messages, claiming that he always loses that "stupid phone that never works anyways".

So, when I'm best friends with a guy like him.. I have to wonder why I even bother.

"Hilary?"

I'm instantly jolted from my thoughts by him. I look over at him, wondering. "Hm? What is it, Tyson?"

He laughs, holding out a bouquet of red roses.

"You know... I've been a total jerkzoid to you lately, so.. I figured I may as well make it up to you."

His voice sounded rather.. I don't know, forced. I blinked, trying to look behind me.

I heard sudden rustling from the nearby bushes. Then, a nervous look on Tyson's face.

That said everything.

"....Ray and Max made you do this to me, didn't they?" I finally said, placing my hands on my hips.

He slowly nodded.

To his surprise, I smiled. "Well.. at least you went through with it. No matter who thinks this up, it was nice that you even did it."

"Hil... you're okay with that?"

I nodded. "Yeah."

A slow smile appeared on his face as I took the roses. "You know, Tyson," I began. "...Do you want to ditch their plans and go for a movie?"

He returned my smile. "Yeah, that'd be nice. What do you wanna see?"

"Hrm," I pretended to think. "How about Nancy Drew?"

His face paled. "But... but... that's a chick flick!"

"Huh, really? I was under the impression that it was a well-rounded mystery movie for people of all ages," I replied, giggling.

He pouted. "Hil, that is so not funny."

I kissed him lightly on the cheek. "Too bad, because I think it is."

He then took me by the hand, sighing. "You're such a mushy person, you know that?"

I shrugged. "Really? I hadn't noticed."

As we left for the movie theater, I could make out three figures arguing to themselves as they popped up from under the bushes. What was their deal, anyhow?

Tyson laughed as he too saw them. "Poor guys.. they worked really hard on the plan."

"Hrm, really? Well, maybe they can use them on Ray when he next sees Mariah..."

"I HEARD THAT!"

We both giggled, dodging the tree branches and whatever else they threw our way.

"This is gonna be a fun night," Tyson commented, glancing back at our former friends.

I nodded in agreement.
