[TMM - K] One-on-One
Boredom kills. ^^; I'm sorry that I'm just using my own characters, but stuff like this helps me develop their relationships outside of rping.
Title: One-on-One
Fandom: TMM - Kokoro
Summary: Kyr and Shou seem to enjoy their talks with each other quite a bit..
Disclaimer: Kyr and Shuu are mine; TMM, Shou, and Ryou belong to Mia Ikumi and Reiko Yoshida. ^^;
Kyr honestly didn't know the last time that he was allowed to be himself. At least, he didn't know the last time before he encountered his grandfather. The angel gijinka didn't know how or even why, but there seemed to be a bond between the two.
When he was down, the blond knew that he could just pop in Shou's apartment. The scent of freshly made green tea could probably sooth anyone who came in if they bothered to wait for it. The time mage knew that if he could smell the tea or spot some signs of a mess usually caused by papers or the occasional science magazine... then it meant that his grandfather was usually all ears to him.
He enjoyed the talks that they shared, whether it was unfair teachers or even about the blood bond that connected them - Ryou.
It was a topic that Kyr vented about to Shou quite a bit; the adult didn't really seem to get where Kyr was coming from, having only seen the side of Ryou that was nice to him, but he listened anyways.
Today wasn't an exception to the normal topic. Kyr and Shou were sitting down in the apartment's living room, listening to Shuu play a video game up in the loft. The angel gijinka couldn't help but smile as he overheard Shuu tell the video game that it was a trap and they should get out. (Of course, they couldn't hear the fox gijinka, so they went further in, much to his dismay)
"Are you okay with Ryou-kun now, Kotora..?" Shou ventured, looking over at his grandson with worried eyes.
Kyr honestly couldn't answer that question with a yes, no matter how much he would have liked to. "I... don't know, Grandfather. Our relationship's always so shaky that if I say one wrong thing, it comes back to haunt me," He admitted, taking a sip of the green tea that Shou had prepared.
Shou looked almost downcast for a moment, as if he couldn't grasp what Kyr was saying. "...I see. I wish I could do something about it, since it's hurting you so much..."
Kyr shook his head, offering a smile. "You've done more than enough, Grandfather, by accepting me."
"You sure?" Shou asked, his brown eyes still looking worried.
"Course I'm sure," Kyr replied, his smile widening to a grin. "Not many get the chance to talk with a loved one this openly, ne. I'm grateful that I'm one of the lucky ones."
This answer satisfied Shou; the adult didn't bother to pry anything else out of his grandson. "That's true," He said. "You ready to go out? I think we'll be having Mexican tonight.."
Kyr laughed. "You sure we're not having surprise of the burned food?"
Shou put down his mug, ruffling his grandson's hair. "Pretty darn sure, Kotora. Let's call Shuu down; it's time to head out."
The angel gijinka did this happily, calling his uncle down cheerfully. "Shuu~ You ready for Mexican?"
He could easily imagine the fox gijinka making a face at this, but Shuu would come down anyways, ready for whatever surprise his father and nephew threw at him. The redhead glanced from Shou to Kyr, blinking.
"Well, it seems that you two had a nice chat, yerf..." He replied, smiling.
They both nodded. For once, Shuu wouldn't say anything further. This day seemed to be going smoothly, and nothing would ruin it... right?
