[TMM - Mirror] Bedtime Tale
Okay, so I'll admit that I've been really into Peter Pan lately. x3; So, how else to pay some homage to it than by inserting it into a ficlet? I hope you like it, Tsu~
Title: Bedtime Tale

When you're a little kid, everything seems to be magical, doesn't it?
That was the way bedtime stories seemed to be for Yoshino, Kyr, and Mushi. Every night, the three were usually coerced into hearing one of their parents tell them a bedtime story.
From that, they learned two things. One? Never let Ryou read a story. He makes it sound exactly like a science lecture.
The second, naturally, was to never let Auntie Ichigo read it either, especially when Sugar was staying the night. She, too, would make the story abnormal - and usually making the kids wonder how she was a friend of their parents in the first place.
But the children were actually looking forward to tonight's bedtime story. Whenever Kyr and Mushi's parents read them a bedtime story, it was a rare and seemingly magical treat.
The usually stiff Ryou would get lost in the story; Retasu forgetting her worries for the duration of the few chapters they were reading tonight.
"What's the story tonight, Kyr-san?" Even at this young age of six, Yoshino Akasaka was unusually polite. Sitting down at the foot of Mushi's bed, she placed the tray of cookies beside the blonde.
Kyr, who was eight and therefore the oldest of the kids here, smiled. "Peter Pan."
"Really, niichan?" As Mushi walked into her room, sleep plushie in her arms, she grinned. Her lack of confidence hadn't quite kicked in, and therefore - the four year old child was pretty much bubbly and cheerful, and pretty much un-Mushilike.
Kyr nodded, patting down on the bed as if to motion her to sit down. "That's what tousan said. I bet it'll be pretty good... though I can't imagine him ever being like Peter Pan..."
Their chatter died down as his parents walked in, taking seats at Mushi's bedside.
"You ready to hear the story?" Retasu asked cheerfully, holding the book steady in her hands.
The three kids nodded eagerly, their smiles widening as Retasu gingerly opened the pages of the book and began to read.
Kyr.. had honestly forgotten how much he loved this story. As he listened to his parents reading the various parts (his father, was, as he had told them, earlier, Peter Pan... as well as Hook), the blond had frankly forgotten something very important about bedtime stories.
...And so had the other two kids, apparently. Before long, they could feel their eyelids drooping, yawns escaping their mouths. They didn't want to leave, though. Not when they were so far into the story!
The sandman ultimately won this battle. When Retasu paused from her reading, wondering why the kids hadn't reacted to an particularly exciting part, a small smile came onto her lips.
"Shall we tuck them in, then?"
Ryou was already ahead of her, taking his son into his arms. "It's certainly time to."
Stooping down, the adult planted a kiss on her cheeks. "It makes you really wonder what Peter was giving up by not growing up, ne?"
Retasu nodded, taking Yoshino into her own arms (the tray of cookies had been cleaned out as the story continued, thus - they could leave it on the bedside table for one night). "Yes, it does..."
As the two left their youngest child's bedroom, they could have sworn that they heard the sound of leaves rustling... and pan pipes being played...
But that was impossible, right..? After all, he didn't exist... but anything can happen with fairy tales, if one dares to believe in them..
