[KH2] To Cheer You Up

Title: To Cheer You Up
Fandom: Kingdom Hearts 2 - Pre-Game
Pairing: Roxette [Roxas/Olette]
Summary: Pre-Game. When Olette falls ill with a fever, Roxas tries to cheer her up.

"Man, I can't tell you how little sleep I got last night..."

Conversations in the Usual Spot always seemed to start this way. Roxas let a yawn escape his lips as he sat on the couch, glancing over at his three---- wait, there were only two today..

"Hey, where's Olette?"

Pence blinked. "You didn't know?"

"Didn't know what?" Roxas asked, placing a hand behind his neck. "Did... something happen to her?"

"Nah, it's not like that. Olette's too sensible to get into 'trouble', 'member?" Hayner let a nervous laugh escape his lips.

"Then what happened?"

Hayner and Pence exchanged glances. For once, the bonehead was actually persistent with something... even if it was only Olette's whereabouts.

"Welllllll... I could tell you..."

"Hayner! That's no fair!"

Hayner laughed. "You bonehead." He replied, jumping off his seat and walking over to Roxas. As he ruffled his friend's hair, a small smile appeared on his face. "She just caught a fever, that's all."

"A... fever?"

"Yeah. You wanna go cheer her up, Roxas? I bet that if all three of us go to see her, then she'll become better in no time!"

A small creeped onto Roxas's face. "Sure. Why not?"

So, that was how Roxas, Hayner, and Pence appeared on Olette's doorstep on this fine day with flowers in hand.

As they waited for someone to greet the door, Pence couldn't help but notice that Roxas seemed... to well, be a little nervous. Pence couldn't blame him, though. Roxas hadn't really been to Olette's house before. Wasn't it.. only a few days ago that he came into town?

The door finally opened, and a young woman greeted them with a smile.

"You must be Olette's friends. Come in! I'm sure she'll be happy to see you."

Is she Olette's mother? She seems... so nice. Roxas shook his head lightly as he followed the older woman, not bothering to see if Hayner and Pence were behind him.

And maybe he should have watched, because it seemed that his friends weren't really here to see Olette. Instead, they were striking (or trying, in Hayner's case) a conversation with Olette's mother. In fact, Olette's mother was so caught up in what they were saying that she didn't even bother to see if Roxas had made his way to Olette's room yet.

This... is great. Just great.

Roxas had no idea that Olette's house was.. well, bigger than he thought. It was by no means as huge as the old mansion, but it was bigger than his own. How was he supposed to find her room at his rate, besides just barging into random rooms?

....Random room barging it was, then.

Twisting the doorknob on the first door he saw, Roxas opened the door. Apparently, that did the trick..

"Olette? You feeling better?"

Brown hair poked out from underneath the comforter of the bed. A soft moan escaped the girl's lips, before her figure (and face) was revealed to the young teen.

"R.. Roxas? What are you doing here?"

Olette attempted to try and sit up in bed. Her strength, however, failed her and she fell back into bed.

"Don't try and sit up if you can't." Man, that fever must've drained most of her strength..

Roxas sat down beside her, taking a bowl of soup from her bedside table. He could feel its warmth (her mother must have put it there for her a few minutes ago, as it was almost to the boiling point) as he took a spoon as well.

"Just try a little soup, will you?"

Olette weakly nodded, pulling herself up. This time, she didn't fall back down as she clutched tightly to a pillow nearby.

"Open up." Roxas tried to smile as he took a spoonful of soup, blew on it, and placed it into his friend's mouth. After the first sip, the girl nearly fell down. Roxas could tell that she was at least trying to stay up and awake.

He smiled. It was rare that he saw her like this (and it would probably be the only time he saw her in this state), and.. it made him.. well, feel something that he couldn't quite describe.

This went on for quite some time. Roxas would place a spoonful in her mouth, and Olette's strength was slowly returning. They had only been doing this for a very short time (five minutes, tops), but it felt like they had been doing this for forever.

As he finally placed the empty bowl of soup (and the spoon) back on her table, the teen's ears perked upon catching words of another conversation.

"Remind me why we're spying on them again..."

Roxas jumped, glancing over at the doorway. He could barely make out two figures standing at the edge, but he could already guess what had been going on this entire time.

"Hayner, Pence..."

The two sweatdropped, watching as their friend made his way over to where they were. Hayner had begun to flee the scene, dragging Pence along with him - but there was no stopping Roxas, either.

"You didn't take any pictures, did you?"

"Maybe a couple."

"A couple?! Haaaayner!"

Olette giggled. Maybe she was sick, and couldn't be with them now. But just seeing Roxas chase after Hayner and Pence made her day... even if it didn't happen most of the time.
