Gathering Seashells [TMM, RxR]
Erm, I wrote a RxR one-shot for the 30 kisses challenge. ^^; May as well post it here, ne?
Title: Gathering Seashells
Pairing: RyouxRetasu
Fandom: Tokyo Mew Mew
Disclaimer: If I owned TMM, I really wouldn't be writing fics for it. ^^;
Two figures could be seen walking along the shoreline one summer evening. One was a blond, who was rather tall for his age. His companion was a green-haired girl, though one could see that she was nervous about something. It wasn't too clear what she was nervous about, but there was this feeling that she was giving off..
"Hey, Retasu..."
The green-haired girl glanced over at him. "Hm?" She asked, pushing her glasses up her nose. A seashell - it wasn't a fancy one, actually - was pushed in front of the girl's eyes.
"You found one already, Shirogane-san?" She seemed to have a knack for pointing out the obvious. The older teenager confirmed her words by nodding firmly, though a sweatdrop was forming on the back of his head.
"Thank you." Her voice was unintentionally blunt, but it seemed to have a tone of sweetness as well. And it was that tone of voice that made the older teen seem... well, more human.
"No problem. What kind of shells are we looking for today?" He asked, glancing down at his bare feet as he spoke. It was low tide, and the water seemed to be playing with the two teenagers' bare feet. They had left their sandals up on higher ground, along with the rest of their beach supplies. (Except for the pail in Retasu's hands, which they were using to hold the wet shells)
However, Ryou noticed that his companion seemed to be enjoying the feel of the wet sand in between her toes, and the water that rose up to her ankles. A rare smile, which was not just on his lips but also could be seen in his eyes, had formed on his face. If he was allowed to, it seemed like he would watch her forever..
"Erm, how about whatever we find? Every sea shell is pretty in its own way." Retasu replied nervously, giving a sweatdrop. "But if you have a specific shell in mind, we can look for that."
Ryou shook his head. "No, I don't mind. Any shell we find will be good." The boy crouched down to pick up a shell which he had found in the water. Bringing it up to his face, he gave a nod in Retasu's direction. "Is this one good?"
However, Ryou didn't notice that some sea creature was still living in the shell. It pinched Ryou in the nose, causing the teen to let a small whimper to escape his mouth and let the creature go back in the sea unexpectedly. "Owwwww..." He muttered, and promptly began to mutter curses under his breath as well.
Retasu sweatdropped, but she walked over to where the older boy was. "Are you alright?" She asked, looking up at him as she spoke. ...Were his eyes always this bright in the moonlight? Retasu couldn't help but blush at the boy's expression. He was clearly caught off-guard.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine. Hey, Retasu.. look at how pretty the moon is tonight.."
Retasu glanced over at the moon, which was on her right. But, she was definitely not expecting the blond to deliver a kiss on the cheek. "W-what was that for, Shirogane-san?"
"For caring about me, of course." He replied somewhat sheepishly, which was quite unusual for someone like him. "I think we ought to go now, right? It's getting pretty late.."
Retasu nodded, following after him. As if by instinct, the girl latched onto his arm. "...Thanks again, Shirogane-san..."
