[SCAWood] The Thirst is Real
Title: The Thirst is Real
Fandom: DC Comics + High School Musical crossover (with Digimon Adventure/02 and Persona 4)
Universe: SCAWood [future 'verse of SCA]
Relationship: platonic Peyton Leverett/Tom Bronson, implied Tom Bronson/Sharpay Evans, implied Mimi Tachikawa/Jason Todd, implied Peyton Leverett/Maxine Hunkel
Summary: After a recent convention Peyton and Sharpay attend, the internet goes wild - and strangely enough, they're all concerned about Tom's feelings. (Tom will never understand fandom.)
Notes: Written during sickness and thus un-beta'ed! Caryl, I apologize for anything that doesn't make sense.
You didn't understand your fiance's fans. Mimi, as a favor to Sharpay, had decided to unofficially help Sharpay with her promotional media accounts (especially her Tumblr). Thus, while you were home alone with some data analysis, Mimi had come over to keep you company. Well, keep you company and ask for your opinion about various posts made in Sharpay's name.
Mimi had maybe made it five minutes without a word when she groaned loudly, "Tumblr's at it. Again."
You squinted at Mimi's laptop screen, trying to discern exactly what had happened this time. Were the fans spewing vitrol about you? You doubted it; Sharpay's fans had since learned to tone down their insults. If they insulted you, they did so mostly in private.
"What'd they do this time?"
Mimi wrinkled her nose at you. "They're talking about Peyton possibly cheating on you with Shar."
You almost choked on your beer. The thought was so laughable you didn't know how to even begin addressing the flaws in that argument. Sure, they probably hooked up in another dimension or two. You wouldn't be surprised if you ventured out to another world, only to find your girlfriend and your best friend in each other's arms after your (heart-breaking and tragic) funeral. Problem was, this wasn't another dimension, this was your freaking life.
While you didn't use social media much - you preferred Facebook to everything else - you had to admire the girls' love for Tumblr. (Sharpay had ditched hers for Pinterest a long time ago, but Maxine and Mimi kept up her official page for 'reasons'.) The fans really connected well on Tumblr and Twitter, so you supposed it made sense for her career. Plus, as Peyton had commented, your fiance was pretty damn gif-able.
"Please tell me you're kidding."
Mimi held the laptop up, gently setting it in your lap. "Not really. They're worried that her affection with Peyton'll ruin her career."
Those fans were certainly passionate about it too.
"The thirst was real," you repeated somewhat dubiously. "Have they actually seen Peyton in love?"
"Probably not." Mimi rolled her eyes. "Believe it or not, it actually gets better from here."
"Cool," You responded, reaching for your mug of tea and sipping it. "I'll be sure to ask Peyton how his affair's going."
"How my what's going?" Peyton asked, just as he closed the door behind him. Then he noticed you and Mimi leaning around the laptop. You hadn't seen his face look this pale since... since he got food poisoning, you reckon.
Mimi hastily motioned to close the laptop. She wasn't fast enough - Peyton's lightning-fast reflexes snatched it from your lap. As he scrolled down the page, his initially bemused expression just kept getting more and more exaggerated, until...
Until he had to ask, "Yo, Tom? Since when were we in a threesome?"
"Uh," you eloquently responded.
Mimi stood on her tip-toes and squinted at the time stamp. "Since last weekend, apparently. I have to say, Tom, I'm kinda mad, considering how you and Shar refused to be in a foursome with me and Jason..."
You shook your head, taking another sip of your beer. "Come on, you've heard Jason in your sleep. That guy doesn't know the meaning of quiet."
Peyton couldn't hide his laughter. Handing back Mimi's laptop, he clutched his stomach to keep himself upright - but even that attempt failed, and he bowled over in hysterics. "S-sometimes I love my fandom," he said, once he was able to regain his composure. "Hey, have you shown this to Sharpay yet?"
"Nope." Mimi shrugged. "You think we should?"
"It'd give your shippers more fuel," you suggested cheerfully. "Just make sure it's all kosher with Maxine before you do anything, okay? I don't want you stuck in a tornado again."
Peyton nodded, running a hand through his hair. "Yeah, yeah... I swear, if I had known Maxine's twin brother was a metahuman, I wouldn't have even tried."
"So you would have if he weren't?" Mimi teased lightly, only for Peyton to elbow her.
If only Peyton's passionate fans could see him now. You didn't even think directors could have fans, but judging from the multitude of (poorly written) love confessions, "Peypay" had clearly become some kind of internet sensation. You just hoped that for your future kids' sake, this kind of stuff wouldn't interrupt their daily lives this often.

I seriously wonder what Tom thinks of all of this... i mean, he IS Sharpay's fiance. shouldn't he be concerned about the affection sharpay and peyton have with each other? FFS, HE WAS ALL OVER HER. THE THIRST WAS REAL.

okay but what if sharpay was cheating on her tommy with peyton?? come on tell me i'm not the only one who sees it?? they're definitely have some kind of affair.
