[DC Comics + Pokemon] Crossover Fics

With the release of Heart Gold and Soul Silver comes crossover drabbles! Honestly, I'm not surprised, despite the fact that I never bought either game. :< The fandom hype got to me, I guess.

The important thing to note about these crossovers? They all take place in Hoenn, not Johto. o/ And obviously, the DCU characters in these fics aren't superheroes but Pokemon trainers. Otherwise? I hope you guys enjoy these snippets.

Title: Stupid Sock Drawers
Fandom: DCU + Pokemon crossover
Relationship: Professor Ted Kord/Barbara Gordon
Summary: Ted Kord wants to research new Pokemon. No one wants to go with him. Is any one going to be surprised by the hilarity that ensues?
Disclaimer: Pokemon belongs to Nintendo, DC Comics belongs to itself. I'm just borrowing these characters for the lulz. ♥

Every great Pokemon professor knew he would have to head out into the field one day. Ted Kord, like his predcessors, was absolutely no exception. No matter the location, no matter the Pokemon... he would attempt to find it! And usually, he would succeed.

Now, no one would argue that field research was important. Every professor needed to get his hands dirty every now and then. However, when that professor was Ted Kord, all bets were off. There just had been too many stories about "the one that got away" or "the one that nearly sent me to the hospital! Again!"

The residents of Littleroot Town, unsurprisingly, dreaded the moment Ted would ring their doorbell and ask, "Are you free? I want some helping hands to accompany me to Route 29 today for some research."

The smart ones would laugh, apologize, and make up some excuse on why they possibly couldn't make it to the field. Booster - Ted's own best friend! - even said he was tied up with some "saving the world" business, and Ted, being the dork he was, believed him.

(After all, why would Booster - Booster! - give up Pokemon hunting with his own best friend? The safety of the world, after all, was more important than some ol' Pokemon hunting that could be put off next week... right?)

Even poor Jaime Reyes, the little kid visiting from Mauville, apologized when Ted asked him. "I'm sorry," He bowed to his mentor. "But I've got to reorganize my sock drawer! Mom made me do it today! Or I'll be grounded for a whole week!"

People thought Ted would eventually get the hint after a while. (Didn't most people?) Unfortunately for Littleroot, Ted did not fit under the description of "most people." So when he stopped by Barbara Gordon's house, no one should have been surprised.

"Ted!" Babs scolded as she promptly pushed Ted towards the opposite side of the house. "When I said I had to wash my hair today, I meant it."

A frown came across Ted's face, "But I thought you were kidding..."

One sign of that frown, and Babs could no longer pretend she was upset with him. She did accompany him in the end, but judging by that sigh and bored look? She too probably wanted a sock drawer to reorganize.

Title: Can't Say Goodbye
Fandom: DCU + Pokemon crossover
Relationship: Bruce Wayne + Dick Grayson + Damian Wayne [familial love]
Summary: Damian's ready to leave on his grand Pokemon journey! ... Or so he thinks.
Disclaimer: Again, none of this is mine. ♥ I'm just borrowing these characters for snippets of fiction.

He was going to be the best like no one ever was. Those song lines may be cliche, but Damian Wayne knew he was going to be the next Pokemon master. He could feel it in his blood!

He even got the best starter Pokemon - a Torchic - and he had money from dear ol' daddy. As far as he was concerned, he had it made.

Staring down at the tiny, orange-yellow bird waddling beside him, Damian couldn't help sighing, "You ready to go, Torchic?"

"Torchic!"

Figures: the only thing a Pokemon would ever learn to say was its own name. Was it some kind of secret code? Something that he would have to eventually decipher and make good on his own time? Adjusting his backpack straps, Damian took a quick scan of the Wayne mansion. He had his Pokedex, his pedometer, money, food, Pokeballs, Torchic...

Surely he wasn't missing anything.

"Leaving without a single goodbye, Master Damian?"

Ah, that. Turning around to face his father's servant, Damian gave a nod of acknowledgement. "Bye, Alfred. I'll reconnect at Oldale."

There was a hint of a frown on Alfred's face, "That's not what I meant, Master Damian. Master Bruce and Master Dick have been waiting for you."

Gesturing towards the living room, Alfred pushed Damian towards the wafting, delicious scent of blueberry pancakes and milk. There, Dick was flipping pancakes at the stove while Bruce poured the orange juice and prepared the finishing touches on the meal.

Damian blinked, "All this is for me?"

"We won't be seeing you for six months," Dick smiled as he looked over at his little brother, "So it's the least we can do."

God. For a family that claimed to never spend time with each other, they sure did care a lot about him. As Damian calmly took his seat beside Dick, the child noticed his father squeezing his hand gently.

"You'll be a great trainer."

"Master, Father," Damian automatically corrected, and yet? He was still smiling. "... Thank you."

Dick laughed as he sat across from the father-and-son duo, "I'm going to miss this."

... He's right, Damian frowned as he looked around at the warmth of the household, I'm going to miss this too. Perhaps he could stay for a little bit longer...? After all, he didn't need to be a trainer right away, and Father could always help him with capturing a Pokemon... and Dick could take him to the circus again...

Closing his eyes, Damian sighed. He had to leave - he promised himself! - and he wasn't a little kid anymore. Little kids could say goodbye.

And as he started eating his last breakfast with his family, he realized: no matter how much he tried to deny it or to change it, he was still a little kid. Little kids can't say good-bye.
