[Original] Bedtime Melody

I'm not really sure where this came from, but oh well. ♥ It was nice to write and it made me feel better.

Title: Bedtime Melody
Summary: Daddy knows how to make his son Kouhei fall asleep.
Claimer: All mine. I don't know why you'd want to use Kouhei, Mura, or Tsubasa [Kouhei's father], but please don't.

He could remember watching his father play the violin at the foot of his bed. Granted, Kouhei was a mere child then - and his father still new to the whole concept of parenting. When even a favorite bedtime story couldn't subdue his first child's whining, out came the violin.

... Even his son could tell that his father had a way with the stringed instrument. There was something about how the bow seamlessly glided along the strings to create new melodies. It soothed even the biggest temper tantrum.

Funny how melancholy songs calmed him down. His father finished the song with a gentle flourish and set it down on the nearby table.

"Kouhei," He began softly, "Did you like it?"

Beaming, Kou immediately replied, "Of course! Daddy's the best player in the whole wide world!"

"Heh," His father laughed as he stood up.

"Daddy, don't go..."

"Hm? But Kou, I can't be here forever--"

Kou immediately tugged on his father's shirt, staring up at him. "Please. Please stay with me tonight."

Looking down, his father managed a small smile as he ruffled Kou's hair. "... All right. But just this once."

In the morning, Kou's mother came in to check in on the two of them. She smiled to herself, crossing her arms as she leaned in the doorway.

"They look adorable," She murmured, reaching into her pockets for a digital camera. "I just hope they won't get mad at me for these pictures!"

His father sleepily opened one eye and looked over at his wife. "Mm? Mura? What's going on?"

The flash of the camera blinded him temporarily, and Mura walked off with glee. Sighing, Kou's father turned back to his son and went back to sleep. "Jeez," He murmured as he drifted back into dreamland. "She could've asked first."
