[Kokoro] Meeting

If I owe you fic, let me know! (I know I owe Cherry, Jisu, and Satou fic, but anyone else? I want to knock your stuff out before NaNo starts. ♥; )

Title: Meeting
Fandom: Kokoro [completely original in this case - only a mild reference to the Mew Project]
Summary: Shuugo's going to visit his friend Leaf in Portland, and trauma ensues.
Claimer: All mine~ Please don't take.
Notes: So, this story does include Shuugo, but it could be seen as original fic because it's basically Shuugo meeting a new OC I fell in love with this past month (and to be honest, Leaf is a pretty cool kid. I just don't know why Leaf intrigues me so much, but the character really does~ ♥)

Shuugo didn't really know what to expect when he went to go visit an internet friend in Portland (technically, this "internet friend" was a student that attended a mage school near Portland, and... well, he had gotten the Esori staff to clear it up just so that he wouldn't be visiting some creepy 30 year old stalker), but he certainly wasn't expecting this.

The gijinka stared at the dark skinned girl (she looked almost Hispanic) before him. "Um, hi."

She blinked, tilting her head to the side. "Are you Shuugo Shirogane?" (Her voice was slightly lower pitched than most girls, but she was probably sick. She might have a cold.)

He nodded. "Yeah. You're Leaf, right?"

"Yep," She beamed, subconsciously tugging red-yellow leaves out of her hair. She motioned to the restaurant before them, adding, "You wanna come in? You look like you're freezing."

"T-that's because I am," Shuu shivered, holding the door open for his new friend. Once both were inside, they flagged a waiter and sat down at a windowside booth. Taking a menu from the waiter's hands, Shuu studied the menu intently.

The place wasn't anything special, really. Nothing could beat Sutori and its amazing raspberry lemonade.

"Is this your special hangout?"

Leaf nodded, beaming at the waitresses that waved at him. "My older brother owns the place. He used to work here before he became a sky pirate."

"... A sky pirate? I thought those didn't exist."

Ignoring Shuu's bewildered stare, Leaf nodded. "Yep! I wanna work on his ship someday. But he says I have to wait until I'm older, or I'll get mistaken for a little kid even when I'm in college."

Shuu laughed. "Yerf, that happens to me all the time! Don't you hate it?"

"Definitely. Say one cute little thing, and BOOM! You're automatically a little kid for life. And you're what, sixteen?"

"Yeah," Shuu sighed, flagging down a nearby waitress. Giving her his order (Milk and some spicy chicken wings), he waited for Leaf to order (Orange juice and some kind of garlic bread) before continuing their conversation.

"But uh... you're not human, are you?"

"Not exactly," Leaf admitted, his face taking on a slight red hue. "I'm actually an elf. You're... a gijinka, correct? I heard that your dad was in charge of the Mew Project."

"How'd you know?"

"Huh? Everyone knows of it! It's pretty amazing that a norm - he wasn't even a Renaldi then - thought up these things. And well, for it to actually work? That takes skill."

Shuu beamed as he handed the menus to the waitress. "That's my dad for you!"

Leaf laughed. Shuu frowned, putting one hand under his chin.

"Mm? Shuugo, what's wrong?"

"I'm sorry, it's just that... your laugh isn't as cute as it should be."

Now it was Leaf's turn to frown. Shuu nervously smiled as he quickly added, "B-But that doesn't mean anything bad! I promise! You're still a really, really cute girl."

Leaf's frown grew even wider. "I'm a really cute girl?"

"T-that was supposed to be a compliment, yerf!"

"I would totally take it as a compliment if I were actually a girl," Leaf sighed, leaning back in his seat. "Sorry. Looks like---"

THUD.

Poor Leaf never got a chance to finish his conversation with Shuugo. The rest of their rocky meeting was spent at the hospital, where Leaf had to hurriedly explain to the poor, confused nurses that Shuu hit his head on the table out of "unexpected and mild shock." (Mild, in this case, was a big understatement.)
