[ToS] Growing Bonds
Okay, so what finally inspired me to get this done? I really have no idea other than staring at my to-do list must have some kind of productive inspiration to me.
Title: Growing Bonds
Fandom: Tales of Symphonia
Summary: "Do you think we could be like this forever?"
Disclaimer: All of these people and places belong to Namco. I'm just having fun "what if" moments with these two.
Spoilers?: Heck yes. If you haven't finished the game, don't bother with this fic.
He had known for a long time that Zelos had a half-sister. She was locked up in that abbey, occasionally accompanied by her servant Tokunaga.
How old was she again? Sixteen? Fifteen? Mithos frankly didn't care. Every moment he spent with her brought him one step closer towards his goal. If he had a teenage girl wrapped around his little finger, she could be his little pawn. One more in the millions that he already had.
But one more that could bring Zelos back to his side. If he saw how much Seles loved him with his heart, perhaps he could bring that stupid Chosen back to his senses.
Seles, however, seemed blissfully unaware that she loved the leader of Cruxis. She lay in the meadow beside him, her arms stretched out towards the sky. "Mithos?"
He blinked, turning to face her with that forced smile. "What is it?"
"Do you think we could be like this forever?"
Forever? That seemed like an awfully long time. He stared up at the sky for a moment. What was forever to him? It seemed like nothing compared to how he'd been living life. It... had been too long.
"I don't know. What do you think?"
She turned to face him with that odd smile of hers. "Probably not. And that's what makes life fun. Having relationships with people, learning how to strengthen and defend those bonds... getting to know them better and... well, everything."
Mithos stared. What? She admitted to thinking not? Did she... know?
"I mean," She continued, "We're all going to die one day."
... Oh. She meant that death would part them. But it would only part her from him; he would just keep living on and on and on. Shaking his head to keep from staring, Mithos managed to stammer out a, "Y-yeah."
How could she be so foolish?
She rose from the grass, picking up the picnic basket from earlier. Looking back at the blond, she went, "Come on, Mithos! We've got quite a way before we can get back to Meltokio!"
He slowly nodded as he rose and followed her out. "Of course."
And then he turned back to face the sea of clouds. "... Perhaps this young fool's teaching her mentor a thing or two, huh?" He walked off, ignoring the laughing clouds behind him.
