[Kokoro - ToS] Normal Chaos

Heh, this is Jisu's birthday present. Man, it took forever to write out, but I hope it was enjoyable. xD I also apologize for taking so long - it's just that everytime I sat down to write something for you, something else came out.

Title: Normal Chaos
Fandom: TMM [Kokoro] and ToS crossover
Summary: "And when it all boiled down to it, this was the same old cafe. Just with different people."
Disclaimer: If you recognize it, it's probably not mine.

Shuugo was not a happy camper. Then again, who would be when his best friends were replaced by Tales of Symphonia characters? There was Lloyd Irving in Kyr's clothing.

He was arguing with Kratos nearby, who was tugging on his armbands. There was Anna in the kitchen with his mother, cooking dinner for everyone.

Zelos was chatting it up with Sheena; Mithos and Genis were figuring out the details of this world.

If there was anywhere Shuugo wanted to avoid it, this would have to be the place.

Normally, Cafe Mew Mew was pretty insane. But with people that didn't know how to survive on Earth? They were all pretty much doomed.

Not it didn't help matters that every single cafe member decided that Shuugo wasn't human. Zelos kept joking to Shuu about how he was just a little fox stuck in a human body.

Oh, this was cruel, unusual punishment. Dang, gina, why did this have to be Japan? If it had been America, he could have asked for the 8th amendment. To tell them that this wasn't possible because it was against the law. But to his knowledge, this was perfectly legal in Japan.

The worst part was that his mother didn't mind this in the least. In fact, she enjoyed it!

Maybe it was because she had finally found a counterpart in Anna (who was in Retasu's clothing - Kyr would've been pleased at the metaphor, if he was here to see it). Either way, it was painful.

"Go, go~ Guy-who-is-not-Shirogane-senpai~"

Shuugo blinked. Oh, so Kocha had stayed behind too? Glancing over in her direction, he couldn't help sweatdropping. Was she actually cheering on Kratos in the argument?

Kratos seemed unused to having his own personal cheering section. (Shuugo couldn't blame him) Lloyd, on the other hand, looked insanely amused. He casually placed one hand on his hip, grinning over at Shuugo.

"Hey, Shuugo," Lloyd asked. "Is she always like this?"

Shuugo nodded in reply; he then returned to burying his head into the pillow, murmuring, "this is all a dream. I will wake up in the morning, and everyone will be back to normal."

"He's weird," Mithos mused, studying Shuugo. "I.. guess I don't blame him, though, if we all took the place of his friends."

Genis nodded in agreement. "I'd be sad too. But he's not really sad, is he? He seems more... insane-driven. Like when you wanted to rule the world, Mithos."

"Uh, about that," Mithos laughed nervously, trying his best to sound normal. "It's.. not exactly what I plan to do anymore."

Course, that could just be because Martel was alive and well in this world. Shuugo had seen her outside, walking with Yuan in the park some days. Most of the time, he thought he was only dreaming, since Martel was never truly brought back to life: just some girl who had her body and voice.

"That's only because she's alive here," Lloyd pointed out, shaking his head. "You'll return to your old ways once you get back."

Mithos hung his head. "....You're probably right."

The entire cafe burst into laughter, save for Shuugo, who was still muttering into his pillow.

"Sorry, everyone," Colette burst into the cafe with Presea, panting as she tried to catch her breath. "Noishe, Presea, and I were playing Fetch!"

Finally, someone who was normal. Shuugo's face lit up when she came in.

"Hey, Colette," He greeted. "Did you have fun?"

She nodded. "Yeah, definitely! This weird guy came up to us, though, while we were playing... ums, he had spiky blond hair, and had this weird small spinning toy--"

Shuugo's face brightened even more. "Minoru," He murmured. "...So the group's finally killed Magnius."

"Ah," Kratos spoke up. "So when your friends come back, it's a sign of how far your friends have gotten in our adventure?"

"I guess," Shuu shrugged. "I'm just glad to have him back."

Right on cue, Minoru was dragged in by an over-enthusiastic Noishe. The blond slowly looked around the room; his mouth was open, but absolutely nothing was coming out.

"How... what? When?"

Shuugo grinned, hugging the blonde. "Everyone, this is Minoru Mizuhara. He's one of my friends." As he let go, Minoru was immediately taken to sit beside Genis and Mithos.

"Are you a non-human like Shuu and me," Genis asked, smiling. "Most people in this world don't seem to be human."

Minoru blinked. "They haven't explained the Mew Project to everyone?"

"Nope, Minoru-san," Kocha chimed in. "Shirogane number seven says that it'll be hard to explain for us."

"The Mew Project," Zelos interrupted. "I heard mention of that once or twice, but seriously, what the heck is that?"

Shuugo looked slightly downcast. "It's.. hard to explain, but it was why I'm not a human."

Now even Kratos was interested. "Then, will you care to elaborate, Shuugo?"

"I guess," Shuugo meekly responded. He then went on to explain the Project to the best of his ability: how it altered humans' DNA with the DNA of endangered or mythical animals, and how sometimes it wasn't always compatible, so it brought about undesired results.

"And I guess that's about it," He finished, looking down at his shuffling feet.

The entire cafe was in silence.

"Iy~aan," Kocha murmured. "Everyone's so sad..."

Minoru ruffled her hair. "Don't worry about it, Kocha," The blonde reassured her. "They'll be fine soon."

"Hey, Shuugo," Lloyd began. "...Who exactly was injected by the Mew Project?"

"Well, I was," Shuugo started. "Um.. Lloyd, you're injected if my theory's right, Kratos is injected, Sheena should be injected, Raine is injected, Colette's injected, and.. well, pretty much everyone here."

Zelos frowned. "Me too?"

"But not you," Shuugo hurriedly replied. "And Yuan and Regal, probably."

Zelos breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness."

The door opened, and in came Raine with thick, old books from what Shuu assumed to be the local antique store. "I'm sorry I'm late," The white-haired woman apologized, though she looked rather happy. "What'd I miss?"

Lloyd coughed. "Uh, just about everything?"

"It's fine, Lloyd," Colette replied, clasping her hands together. "I can explain it to her!"

"Me too," Kocha chimed in, raising her hands.

Shuugo and Minoru exchanged glances.

"Ten bucks they won't explain it correctly, and we'll have to do it again," Minoru said, extending his hand.

Shuugo grinned. "Deal."

"Hey, everyone?"

The entire cafe looked over at Anna and Liz, who had just finished setting the tables.

Anna grinned. "It's dinner time. You all ready to eat?"

It was then that Shuugo realized that even if his friends were gone, and the cafe was replaced with a bunch of video game characters... the cafe was still the same cafe. It just had different people, and a slightly darker atmosphere.

...That, however, did not mean that Shuugo still despised Zelos Wilder with every bit of his heart. Oh, Zelos had it coming the moment that he told Shuu he had that foxy thing going on.

Thankfully, though, the Chosen of Tethe'alla was in ignorant bliss, fawning over Shuu's mother. And Shuu wouldn't have had it any other way.
