[Original] New Beginnings: Chapter Eight

Yes, I'm on a roll. <3 Isn't that awesome? Hopefully, though, I've answered some questions. I promise that the Angelique saga will come to an end soon, since she's not the main foe of the series. If nothing's been answered now, you should let me know. I've got no definite plans for anything until Chapter Eleven.

Title: Chapter Eight: Plotting, Fangirls, and Angels, Oh My
Fandom: Original [refs to TMM, Beyblade, and Digimon near end, but can be changed around easily]
Claimer: Mine~~ >__>;
Note: Ah, yes. Kyr Takaishi now shares a last name with someone else. Please note that they are not related. At all. .__.;; It does have some significance, but not much right now.

There was a free period called Advisee where teachers could use the time to call grade-wise assemblies and other good meetings if they needed. However, when it wasn’t in use by the teachers, everyone knew what it really was: a cleverly-disguised study hall.

Daisuke sighed as he tossed another book to the top of his pile. Man, the teachers were really laying it on the homework, weren’t they? As the teacher had left the room, some girls were chattering to themselves in a corner of a room; the majority hadn’t noticed and was still working on homework of some kind.

“Hey, Dai!”

He nearly jumped out of his seat. Even if it was only a whisper, he hadn’t been expecting it; swerving to face the speaker, Dai could only manage a weak smile.

“What’s the problem, Kaijou?”

He took Dai by the hand, leading him out of the room. “I’ve all ready signed you out,” He quickly said, “So we can talk as we walk.” He paused, smiling at the thought. “Heh… that rhymed.”

Daisuke rolled his eyes. “You still didn’t answer my question.”

The dark-haired teen appeared bemused at his friend’s words. “It’s about the conversation we had yesterday,” Kaijou replied simply, crossing his arms. “You know, about Angelique-san and all?”

“What does that have to do with me?”

Well, this was going over well. Kaijou sighed. “Because she’s plotting something about Takaishi-san. You know that when she plots, it’s usually not a good sign, even if she is fully angel.”

Dai slumped down near the wall; the two had just chosen to sit on one of the less-busy corners of the hallway. “I don’t get why she’s so obsessed with this angel business of hers,” He slowly murmured, shaking his head. “Takaishi-san is a nice kid. A little out there, yes, but he’s done nothing to deserve her torture. So what if he didn’t join…?”

“Unfortunately, that is the something he did do,” Kaijou whispered back. “For some reason, Angelique-san’s problem is that the Hoshizen council isn’t as cool as Phantasy’s or even MUS’s.”

It took Dai a long time to understand what he had meant by that. Sure, the councils were more simplistic here – norm academics took the precedent here. The school didn’t have the need to build council rooms just for these groups. Even he knew that.

He nodded to show that he got it. “But the school records show that having a council room doesn’t mean anything. We’ve actually gotten more done than both schools, and we’ve the proof for it too---”

“Heh,” Kaijou laughed. “You really don’t get it, do you? Dai, you’re kind of… special when it comes to Hoshizen. Of course you’d only see the good side of it all.”

Dai frowned. “Hey!”

He then let a smile grace his features, looking over at one of his best friends. “But, yeah, you’re right,” Dai admitted. “I think that I do see only the good side because of who I am. I’ll admit that. It’s not my fault, is it?”

Their conversation was interrupted as they watched a rather tall brunet pass by, struggling to just walk by with the load of books in his arms. Blinking, they thought nothing of it at first.

That was, until they saw the trail of dazed girls slowly following his every footstep.

Dai exchanged glances with Kaijou.

“Is that….?”

Kaijou slowly nodded. “Yes. I believe we have finally witnessed the fangirls that lurk these hallways.”

They both shuddered, unable to completely understand this.

“You wanna head back to study hall?”

Dai nodded at his friend’s words. “Heck yes,” He called back, rising from his position. “Who knows what’d happen if we didn’t?”

They turned back to see the doors shut behind the fangirls. Shuddering once more, the two dashed back in record time to their homeroom. In their minds? Fangirls were a very, very scary force. One shouldn’t deal with them unless he or she had to.

In a sense, they were right as the fangirls continued to follow the brunet.

“Isn’t he dreamy,” One asked the other, placing both of her hands on her cheeks. “You know, by the way he simply smiles at everyone?”

The other nodded happily. “Of course! Takaishi-sama’s always that way~”

The object of their affections hadn’t noticed so far. (It was only two girls for now, after all – surely they weren’t affecting him that badly)

“EEEEEEEEE! It’s Takaishi-sama!”

The brunet swerved back, panic-stricken. Choruses of laughter joined in at the moment, watching with glee as ‘Takaishi-sama’ darted off in the direction of his next class.

This wouldn’t deter determined fangirls. Course it wouldn’t, if the boy of their affections was playing hard to get now.

“Wish I got that much affection as a freshman,” One senior remarked to another as the crowd passed them by.

The other nodded. “Yeah. You have to admit, though. The poor guy doesn’t seem to want much of anything to do with him… Takaishi Sora-san, was it?”

The first kid sighed, shoving the final fangirls in the direction that the brunet had went in. “That was his name last time I checked.”

Why was it no surprise to anyone else – other than Takaishi-sama, that is – that he had a huge fan following, despite being only a freshman? The brunet slowed to a halt as he reached a door at the end of the hallway. Opening it, he then turned back to his crowd.

(Could he call it his crowd, though? They were a bit… odd, for a bunch of upperclassmen and middle school girls combined.)

“I’ll see you later,” He nervously replied, slamming the door shut.

“…..He totally just said it just for me!”

“Nuh-uh,” Another cried out, slapping the first’s shoulder. “He meant it for me! You know we’re going to get married some day!”

…..That may have not been the best thing to say. Sora slumped down to the ground on the other side of the door, ignorant of the stares his teacher was giving him and the laughs from his classmates.

“Why me,” He murmured, letting his books fall every which way. “I didn’t think I was that smart or handsome or whatever.”

Picking his books up, he reluctantly found the strength to take a desk as class began. If anything, the brunet knew why he was being followed. Ever since those stupid rumors had started about him being a teacher for some little class of middle schoolers, every girl had practically been throwing herself at his feet.

Not that it wasn’t cool at first. (So he was a guy. They couldn’t blame his instincts – or could they?) But with everything else, it had gotten old. Pretty quickly.

Now? It was annoying. He knew that he should be flattered, since he was only a freshman, and he had everything going for him. Yet… it was still really weird at the same time.

Turning his focus to the teacher, he couldn’t help wondering about something else. He had seen an angel kid wandering around the high school some days; was he all right? Something about him had been off.

If he could see him now, then maybe Sora wouldn’t have been as worried. The angel kid he had seen was in fact Kyr, and he was actually sitting outside as it was his PE class.

As Kyr finally got a good look to examine his surroundings, he couldn’t help noticing how he wasn’t the only kid who was angelic by blood or DNA or what-have-you. The blond made his way to the other group, smiling weakly as he greeted them with a, “Hey. What’s up?”

The three turned to face him. What was wrong? Had he said something unusual, since their faces were all confused?

“The sky,” One finally replied, pointing upwards.

Kyr laughed nervously. “Oh, no. I meant like, what’s new in your life?”

The second, a green-haired girl, managed a smile. “I see,” She replied politely. “…You’re of our kin.”

“Not really,” Kyr managed to blurt out. “I was… born a human.”

This confused the second girl even more; she furrowed her brows in confusion. “Then, would your blood be tainted? Are you perhaps, a fallen angel?”

Kyr blinked. “Had no idea they existed,” He murmured softly. “But I guess it makes sense. Not every angel can have this same set of ideals and all.”

“Celyn,” The first replied to the second (but because his pronunciation was awkward, it came out more as ‘Selinu’), patting her on the shoulder. “It’s… okay if he doesn’t know. The Creator wouldn’t mind.”

Turning his attention back to Kyr, the first continued, “Since you are of our kin, whether you like it or not, you do have traces of immortality in you. As much as you would like to die, it seems impossible. Knocked Out, sure. But anything further…”

Why was he blabbering all this nonsense?

Kyr crossed his arms, watching as this whole stream unfolded around him. Why were these kids trying to convince him that they aged at a different rate?

“You all would really be in your twenties, right,” Kyr finally remarked, with hints of amusement in his voice. “Well, why are you here then?”

Celyn smiled. “Because we’re here to learn. As long as we can do so, we will.”
Kyr knew that smile a mile away. He frowned, looking away from the three acquaintances. “….You may be angels – and maybe I’m one too. But,” He paused, making sure that he had their attention.

“Could you possibly… maybe… smile a real smile and laugh real laughter?”

With that, he turned back to the class as warm-ups were being finished. Sighing, he looked up to the seemingly endless sky.

“Angels are a full race, aren’t they,” He murmured softly, unaware of the confused and betrayed faces staring him down. “….So why do they feel so lifeless, unlike the others?”
