Darn that Selphie.
She always was a romantic at heart, like most girls usually were (though half of them didn't want to admit it). However... guess what this romantic had to do?
When she had heard that Kairi wasn't doing anything for Valentine's Day, the brunette just had to arrange something special.
She called it a double date; Sora called it 'really embarrassing'.
In truth, though.. Sora may have been a little upset over the whole ordeal, but it seemed that he was actually all right with it. After all, wasn't a date with Kairi what he had always dreamed of? Or at least, something like it?
That was the reason why Sora was standing in front of a paopu tree on the mainland; this was why he was glancing at his watch every so often, fiddling with his crown necklace.
"Sora! Sorry I'm late."
He smiled as she walked up to him; they had promised each other that they wouldn't wear anything fancy, yes, but..
Even if all she had done to her hair was pull it back with a paopu barrette, she was still radiance.
"Nah, it's fine," Sora replied, shaking his head lightly. "Selphie and Tidus haven't showed up yet, either."
She let a sigh of relief escape her lips, placing a hand on her chest. "Thank goodness."
Looking over at him, Kairi extended her hand. "So, Sora? While we wait, what do you wanna talk about?"
What did he want to talk about? Well, what could he talk about while looking perfectly normal? She looked extremely pretty in the lamplight; even if all she was wearing was a normal pink polo t-shirt and a white pleated skirt with Rainbow flip-flops, she was drop dead beautiful in Sora's eyes.
He tugged on his hooded sweatshirt. Compared to the work she had gone to.. he wasn't dressed half as nicely in his black-edged white sweatshirt that opened in the middle to reveal a red t-shirt with the slogan, "Smile til it hurts" and black denim pants. Shuffling his sneakers into the sandy ground, he simply shrugged.
"I'm not sure," He finally admitted, keeping his gaze down. "But.. err... you..."
She blinked. "I..."
"...You look really nice," He blurted, looking away from her as his face became a deep shade of red.
Her face brightened; she swayed from side to side gently, as if she was thrilled by hearing the news.
"R.. really?"
He looked up. "Definitely," He cheerfully said. "I wouldn't lie about that."
Oh, dear.. now what? Sora didn't want to dwell on appearances right now...
He finally took her extended hand, squeezing it. "Hey, Kairi?"
She smiled. "What is it?"
"...You wanna share a paopu fruit sometime soon?"
For some reason, she hugged him. Looking up to face him, she didn't dare let go. "Of course I do," She answered happily. She buried herself in his chest, murmuring something that sounded like, "thank the heavens he said it and not me".
Why is it that friends always come at the time that you never want them to see you?
Tidus and Selphie walked up to their friends, exchanging smiles and knowing glances.
"Well, well. You guys all ready planned your wedding?" Tidus asked, grinning.
Selphie clasped her hands together. "You know... we haven't planned our wedding yet..."
Tidus's face paled. "You know, we just started dating... like now..."
Sora and Kairi broke from their embrace to laugh at Selphie and Tidus's banter.
"Guys, why don't we go on that date all ready?" Sora asked, waving his hands in front to break the two apart. "I bet it'll be fun!"
Kairi nodded in agreement. "Yeah!"
The four then walked side-by-side as they headed to the mall, Kairi's hand in Sora's, and Selphie's in Tidus's.
Neither had noticed the two paopu fruits that had fallen to the ground behind them, and maybe.. just maybe.. that was a good thing.
