It Takes Two: Chapter Five
Title: Broken Stereotype
Fandom: Tales of Symphonia
Pairing: Colloyd [LloydxColette]
Disclaimer: I swear, nothing here is mine. e__e;
Notes: This is post-game. Meaning, there are heavy spoilers for the entire game in here. Got it? Oh, and.. it doesn't matter which ending you played through here. (Even if you chose the Kratos ending, I still think that someone still survived, okay?)
Angels were always something that fascinated Lloyd. He wasn't sure quite why they fascinated him so.
Maybe it was their sparkly wings. Or maybe it was their holy, mighty powers.
Something about him said no.
He wasn't obsessed with their wings, their powers, their holier-than-thou personalities. (Should he, could he have even been obsessed with the last one?)
Whenever Colette smiled at him, he felt like he was on Cloud Nine. When Kratos had trained Lloyd with his swords, Lloyd could sense a feeling that he used to only have with Dirk. Whenever Zelos would hug him (for no reason!)... he oddly felt okay with it. At least, until Zelos got himself into trouble.
Mithos... was supposedly a lot like him. He didn't know Martel (he never did), but she was said to be like Colette (was she friendly, then?). And Yuan... whenever the two stared the other down, Lloyd had to be honest: it kind of felt like he was holding one with a brother he never had.
They were all angels, weren't they?
He didn't like them for their wings (heck, his own wings were huge). He didn't adore them for their sparkly light-based powers.
He liked them all for them, not their stereotypes.
As he looked around him, the brunet had to smile. He could hear Colette apologizing to Sheena and Presea about something petty (to be honest, he didn't think the two even cared about broken ribbons). The scent of Genis's and Regal's cooking easily made its way over to his area.
"Professor Raine~ Don't you think today's a lovely day?"
SMACK.
Lloyd mentally winced; even if he couldn't see it, he knew that Zelos had just gotten slapped by Sheena. (Let's face it - who else would slap him?)
It was rare that he was so engrossed in his thoughts. Lloyd smiled slightly, wondering what the others thought - surely they knew that this behavior wasn't normal for him, right? Even if it was over weird thoughts about angels.
He could hear footsteps.
Turning to face Colette, he smiled.
"Evening," She said, sitting down beside him. "What were you thinking about, Lloyd? It's not like you to be so quiet."
"Angels," He admitted, letting his hand sit on top of her own. "I don't think I've ever talked about them with anyone else besides Genis, though."
She tilted her head to the side. "Angels..?"
"Yeah, Angels. I used to wonder how much of a pain in the neck it would be to change clothes and stuff."
She giggled slightly. "Well, you're an angel at the moment yourself. It's not that hard, right?"
"I don't know," He admitted. "But... if we destroy all the Exspheres except for Zelos's and Mom's, wouldn't that make us all age normally?"
"Huh, really?"
It was annoying, really, when Zelos decided to interrupt a normal conversation. The redhead sat down beside Lloyd, sighing of relief as he let his legs relax.
Colette shrugged. "I think Kratos would probably know. But he's visiting Martel today with Yuan..."
"I guess we'll have to wait until he comes back for the answer, then," Lloyd replied, sighing. "Oh, well. I guess I can hold off for that much longer..."
Much to his surprise, Zelos gave him a pat on the back. "That's the spirit, buddy. I'd better help Sheena with dinner, so..."
....That was weird.
Lloyd and Colette exchanged glances as the chosen of Tethe'alla left. He usually didn't wander off in the middle of a sentence, so.. was there something wrong with him?
"Hey, Lloyd?"
He smiled slightly. "Hey yourself."
She returned the smile. "Since... we won't be starting our journey to destroy Exspheres for a while, I was wondering..."
"Wondering what?" He interjected, blinking.
"...Well, erm... we'll be in Altamira tomorrow. Could we... possibly... go together?"
"Okay! Are we inviting Genis and Presea too? I'm sure they'd love to see the roller coaster!"
Colette's smile wavered slightly. "...Umm, sure!" She finally said. "..But can just the two of us go on the ferris wheel?"
He blinked. "Sure."
"I'm sorry," She immediately replied, looking away. "It sounds... kind of stupid, doesn't it?"
He shook his head. "You dork. I don't mind doing anything with you, Colette, so I'm definitely up to the task."
"Hey, Lloyd, Colette! Dinner's ready!"
The two rose from their positions as they heard Genis's voice. Dusting herself off, Colette beamed. "Then it's a date!"
As she ran off to help Genis, she turned back to see Lloyd.
"A date, huh...?" He murmured to himself, smiling. "In any case, thanks, Colette. I guess angels like you and me really aren't what I thought they were."
