New Beginings: Chapter Two
For those who don't know what it is, it's basically a story that tells about how the mages in Kokoro got together and formed their special bond in the course of the year. (It explains the Code, anything mageish in Kokoro, and the like eventually.)
If it gets too confusing, please let me know, okay? ^^b;

New Beginnings: Chapter Two
Let’s End This on a High Note
“Shawn!”
The last few events seemed unreal to Takaishi Kyr. This morning, he was assigned to be part of a group that really had no sense of belonging. Even to him, it was obvious that the people in the group really weren’t going to get along. Now? Two little children had pinned him down on the floor, snatched his arms wildly (he could feel his muscles wincing in pain), and had begun to drag him in the direction of another building. Since Kyr was new, the boy had no idea of what was really going on.
As he listened to the rumors – rumors of the Angel Council, a group that coerced the few students of Hoshizen to become part of the council whether they wanted to or not, the teenager slowly became aware of his situation. And he didn’t like it one bit. Just because he had the DNA of an angel inside of him (according to the children), he was forced into becoming part of this ruthless council.
But as Kyr was slowly dragged away by the children (they couldn’t drag him as quickly as they’d like to, because they complained that Kyr was ‘heavy’), the seemingly impossible happened.
The exchange student from America, Beaumont Shawn, had left everybody that could hear him speechless. Awkward silence had followed after he had demanded the children to stop what they were doing. Kyr didn’t know if Shawn was extremely brave, or if he was being extremely idiotic for challenging the angel council.
However, Shawn couldn’t see – or hear – the flowerpot heading in his direction. ...How could he dodge it? Since the children had tied rope around Kyr’s wrists, the holy mage couldn’t help Shawn one bit. He was going to be dead meat if that flowerpot hit him. After all, he couldn’t do much to help out if he was KO’ed, right?
“Data’s Barrier!”
Something flew out of Shawn’s jeans pocket. As it shone its light brightly, data spilled out around the fox gijinka and created a barrier. The flowerpot lightly touched the barrier, only to be shattered mere seconds later. The sound it made echoed throughout the area, causing many spectators to wince in pain as they tried to cover their ears.
But… who was responsible for causing this scene? Kyr scanned the ‘arena’ with his blue-grey eyes, looking for signs of life. His eyes stopped right in front of the answer.
Daisuke stood in front of Shawn, holding the younger boy’s cell phone in his hands. “Looking for this?” The data mage asked cheerfully, smiling as he handed the cell phone back to Shawn. The teenager then extended his hand to Shawn. The gijinka mage then took that hand, tucking the cell phone back into his jeans pocket.
“Two against one is never fair, so why not make it even?”
The newcomer summoned his twin daggers. In that instant, one could have seen the twinkle in his eyes. However, it was quickly replaced with an all-too confident smirk. “Let’s get down to business.”
Shawn nodded in agreement, summoning his saber once more. “Let’s!” He cried, dashing in the direction of the two children. His shoulder made contact with the invisible barrier before him; his body suddenly flung back by the force thrown back at him.
“Owwwwwwwwww...” He winced, glancing down at his new wounds.
“What made you think that you can beat us? Age doesn’t always mean strength. You of all people should know that, Kinomiya.” The young girl scoffed, blowing on her long nails.
Daisuke’s eyes narrowed as he stared at the younger girl. “Who gave you the right to speak to me like that?” He growled through gritted teeth.
His unexpected anger caused the girl to blankly stare at him, before slowly inching away from the data mage. “…..” She shook her head, pushing her platinum blonde hair away from her face.
“Why don’t we make a deal? If you lose your weapons, then you will forfeit the battle to us.” Shawn replied, gathering up his courage. Glancing over at the two children with his aquamarine eyes, He crossed his arms. A dejected sigh escaped his lips. How much longer was this going to take?
The two children’s eyes met one another. It was obvious that they didn’t want to make this deal, but… it sounded like it would be alright for them.
“Alright. If we lose our weapons, then you win and we’ll let Takaishi go. But…!” The boy paused mid-sentence to try and arouse attention from the crowd. “If you lose your weapons, then we win.” He added confidently, smirking at the two older boys.
“Hasn’t anybody told you to respect your elders?” Shawn commented, raising an eyebrow at the boy’s behavior. “But we’ll accept. Not like there’s anything else to go by…”
Daisuke nodded in agreement. “Let’s get this party started.” He replied jokingly, twirling his daggers as he assumed a fighting stance.
Shawn gave him a blank stare, but merely shrugged and did the same thing. Who was he to question Daisuke’s choice of words?
“Blue Data’s Ribbon!”
He outstretched his hand, his brown eyes watching… and waiting. Ribbons escaped his hand, its edges wrapped around her kendama. …Then, a yank. As if they had minds of their own, the ribbons tugged.
She just wouldn’t let go. In a sudden turn of events, the girl found herself in a tug of war with… blue ribbons. Closing her eyes, she groaned, her hands pulling harder and harder…
The ribbons did nothing. Out of her hands it flew, pummeling to the ground mere seconds later. Pieces of paint peeled itself off with each nearing feet…
Until they and another pair of hands met. One hand gripped it tightly; the other cupped itself around the owner’s mouth.
“Dai! I got it~!” The owner responded cheerfully.
Glancing over at the owner, Dai’s lips broke into a grin. “Hikari-chan, thanks.”
The brunette giggled.
Seeing his opening, the other boy swung his hand back behind him, his yo-yo ready to launch at a moment’s notice. His hazel eyes locked into Shawn’s.
Shawn lunged, his saber’s pointed side ready to strike. Yo-Yo met saber, knocking the weapon out of his hands.
The redhead pressed his lips together, refusing to let groans escape his mouth. Just a little bit more…. And he would have had the boy in his hands….
He stretched his arm, reaching over for the saber’s handle…. But it hurt. He looked up, wincing.
How could someone so small have the upper hand right now? He could feel the kid’s shoes pressing down onto his arm…
Shawn hated that kid’s laugh, he really did. And he didn’t want to hurt him physically either…. Argh. What would it take for him to let go?
“….Meta-morph….” It hurt to even let the words escape his lips. He raised his other arm to his mouth, blades of glass crushed tightly in his fist. Opening it, the gijinka blew on them.
Silently traveling along roads of the air, one could sense the magic surrounding the blades. A few seconds felt like forever now… purple sparkles enshrouding the blades, their figures changing shapes to white feathers...
They touched the angel boy, lightly brushing against his shoulders. He couldn’t help it now – he laughed.
The more the feathers touched him, the more he lost control over himself. Shawn took this as his chance.
Raising his arm, his other hand pushed the boy off. Not caring that the other had landed into the grass, Shawn snatched the yo-yo from his hands, an apologetic smile on his face.
“Hey, kid. Now will you let go of Takaishi?”
He didn’t even need to say that. Knowing that they were beaten, the kids shamefully received their weapons back. Not daring to look back at the two redheads, the children’s hands deftly removed the chains binding Kyr’s hands together.
As soon as they had fled the area, it was silent.
Then all erupted into cheering and laughter.
“I can’t believe that those two actually beat an Angel Council member!”
“I know! It’s like… they totally knew what they were doing, you know?”
As the four caught wind of the conversation, they exchanged glances. Kyr grinned, shaking his head lightly.
“You two are going to be the talk of the school for a while, it seems.” He said, looking over at Shawn.
The redhead laughed, returning the grin. “I know yerf… It seems a little weird, doesn’t it?”
….Yerf? Daisuke’s expression turned to one of slight confusion. Even he knew that normal human beings didn’t have a word like that in their vocabulary. The redhead tapped the other on the shoulder.
“Shawn? Why did you say yerf?”
Shawn blinked; it was like he had really never heard himself speak just now. “Huh? I guess I don’t really know, yerf… it’s something I’ve been saying for a while.”
Since he figured that he wouldn’t get any other answer out of Shawn, the data mage seemed satisfied with that answer. “I guess it works for me. Looks like this year’s not going to be so long after all, isn’t it?”
The others shook their heads.
“Hey, Daisuke-san? What class do you have next?” Kyr asked, looking down at his folded schedule. “I know we’re in the same grade norm-wise…”
“I think Algebra I, but I don’t know…” The data mage replied, taking his own schedule out from his pocket. “You?”
The time mage gave a thumbs-up, looking over at Dai. “Algebra I.”
As both boys grinned at the prospect of being in one of the same classes (truth be told, they had been in the same class all year, but sadly, one didn’t notice the either. And in a class of 15 kids? That was even sadder, no?), they were quickly interrupted by another voice.
“GUYS! What the heck did you think you were doing?!”
Dai winced. Of course it would be her to speak like that…. Who else honestly would? “Shikari-san, why are you yelling like that?”
The fire mage narrowed her eyes, shooting daggers at Shawn. “Because you two could have easily gotten supervised study that way…. And I don’t think Mr. American exchange student wants to get acquainted with the lady in charge, okay?”
“Oh, right…” Daisuke trailed off, knowing all too well what Ari was talking about. “But hey, at least we did a good job getting Takaishi-san off the hook…”
Ari let a sigh escape her lips. “Why do I have a feeling that this year’s going to be waaay too long…?”
Hikari and Kyr exchanged glances, letting laughter escape their lips.
“Different strokes for different folks…” Hikari commented, smiling.
Ari tilted her head to the side. “…What do you mean by that, Hikari-san?”
Kyr flicked her nose. “You and Kinomiya-san are like night and day, ne. You know that, right?”
On the contrary, they didn’t. Both of them stared at Kyr, causing the blond to let nervous laughter escape his lips.
“Or maybe you didn’t… but the bell’s going to ring, so let’s end this on a high note.”
They all nodded, before finally leaving the area long after everyone else had.
“This ought to be interesting.” One commented, brushing back his maple-brown hair. “Maybe this experiment of mine won’t turn out so horribly wrong after all…”
If it gets too confusing, please let me know, okay? ^^b;
